publications and writing
My writing on childlessness, self-connection, and clinician wellbeing has appeared in Tutum Journal across multiple issues (2021, 2022, 2023). I contributed to The Twenty Percenters, a resource focused on the one in five women without children. I am quoted in the book "So When Are You Having Kids?" in the context of adapting to a life without children. My expertise on involuntary childlessness has been cited in the Irish Independent article “‘I feel like I failed in being a woman. Motherhood felt like my destiny.’ The agony of the women who can’t be mothers” (October 2023) and I was interviewed for the Vox article “How to navigate dating when you don’t want kids” (November 2023).
My employment at Fred Hutch Cancer Center focused on addressing gaps in survivorship care for those receiving stem cell transplants. Through this work I am a co-author on a peer-reviewed study published in Biology of Blood and Marrow Transplantation (2020) examining reach and enrollment in an online cancer survivorship program for hematopoietic cell transplantation survivors.
Presentations and Collaborations
I have presented on childless and childfree clinical practice at national and international venues including the Childless Collective Summit, World Childless Week, the Canadian Perinatal Mental Health Certificate Course, and the National Empowerment Center. I offer continuing education trainings for clinicians on topics including Childless Affirmative Therapy, play therapy and cancer, and creative arts approaches in anti-oppressive practice. I host a monthly international therapist networking group centering clinical work with childfree, childless, and questioning clients.
